In 2008 the “Podere Il Poggino” Farm has been restored thanks to the care and love of Agostino and Ingrid who have devoted much energy and resources to creating a splendid olive grove.
We produce organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, DOP Terre di Siena certified, in Tuscany, the most beautiful region of Italy, with the help of Tuscan friends who are very respectful of the territory and who have an innate sense of beauty and good taste. “Trees are the earth's endless effort to speak to the listening heaven” These words of Tagore inspire us in our efforts to ensure that our trees remain not only productive but also beautiful and harmonious with the Tuscan countryside.
"Podere Il Poggino" Farm is the fruit of great love, involvement and sharing.
Our Olive Grove
Our 528 olive trees grown in harmony with nature
The Poggino olive grove extends over an area of about 2 hectares. Our 528 olive trees are grown respecting nature.
The soil where the olive grove is rooted consists principally of sand from the ancient Pliocene sea.
It’s common to find ancient skeletons, mollusks and crustaceans here.
The beauty of our olive oil resides in its simplicity
The beauty of our olive oil resides in its simplicity, which nonetheless conceals both the art and care which have resulted in its creation. The principal ingredients, apparently contradictory in their co-existence, are the results of both dexterity and modern technology.
In the kitchen, our oil
It is ideal for seasoning "raw" dishes.
Its fragrance is particularly enhanced on salads of vegetables and green leaves, legumes, cooked vegetables, soups, in pasta dishes seasoned with vegetables, on game and on meat or fish cooked grilled or on the grill. Interesting in its use in the preparation of mayonnaise.
We offer you some recipes that have been kindly transmitted to us by our friend Raffaella, while we were on holiday, by the calm sea.
Our farm is located in Tuscany between the Chiana and Orcia valleys, half way between Pienza and Montepulciano, south of Siena. We are an hour and half’s drive from Florence airport, three hours from Rome airport, 40 minutes from Siena, 10 minutes from Pienza or San Quirico d’Orcia.
Arriving on our farm, the traveller passes in front of the parish church of San Stefano at Cennano, a simple and beautiful piece of Romanesque church architecture, where they hold classical music concerts during the summer.
